Bill Synder, Founder & CEO, Cylinder
I’m Bill Snyder. I’m the founder and CEO of Cylinder. We founded Cylinder in 2021 with the mission to revolutionize digital health gut first.
Dena Bravata, MD, MS, Cylinder Clinical Advisory Board
The relationship between gut health and overall health cannot be overstated.
Hau Liu, MD, MBA, MPH, Chief Medical Officer, Cylinder
The numbers show that one in four of people in the U.S. have some kind of digestive issue. They often don’t want to talk about it, but it’s there.
Karen Luk, Chief Product Officer, Cylinder
My dad passed away from colon cancer when I was a kid. I just always felt like there’s so much opportunity for program like Cylinder to help people – to be more proactive about their health, to understand what options were available to them, and also to reduce some of the stigma associated with digestive health symptoms.
Amit Ahuja, MD, Head of Gastroenterology, Cylinder Medical Group
I really consider Cylinder to be the best of breed in the leader in gastroenterology telehealth services. We can really help patients that are suffering from GI symptoms. We can actually help them feel better overall.
Dena Bravata
I think that Cylinder is uniquely positioned to address some of these issues. The care team includes not just gastroenterologists, but also coaches, dietitians, and provides a way of being able to understand patients across the range of disease acuity.

If you’re somebody who’s coming in and you’ve got really severe symptoms, we look at using our technology platform to understand that you might have more severe symptoms. and think about how to triage you most effectively to get to that right level of care. We are on your team and working with you to help kind of figure out what’s going on and figure out a plan that’s going to help you start feeling better.

One thing that we’ve done at Cylinder really well is we’ve been able to show our results. The first thing that we’ve looked at is are we impacting the lives of the members that we serve? So we begin by asking them about their symptoms, their experience, and what we’ve seen is a huge improvement for individuals suffering from these conditions relative to the symptoms that they’ve experienced.
The next thing we look at is cost savings. Can we help those individuals decrease the spend on their healthcare? And can we help our partners decrease the spend as the plan sponsor? So reducing things like emergency room visits, duplicative doctor visits, improving medication adherence, and we’ve been able to prove those results across the country.
I describe the team members who work for Cylinder as fiercely passionate about the problem that we’re solving. They know the significant need out there in the market, and they bring that passion every single day with a focus on how do we provide the best care for the members that we serve.
